Misfit Simion begins by pointing out the fact that summer is ended and school is about to start. He assures viewers that he has a treasure of shameful secrets relating to what his classmates did over the summer, and that he will begin releasing them on Friday. However, he also sends a teaser to all of the student's phones using the app AbouThat, claiming to have dirt on well-liked classmates. The first day of school begins, and Bronwyn finds herself in trouble in class when a mysterious phone that doesn't belong to her starts ringing in her backpack. As a result, she, along with four other students, including Simon, are placed in detention.

During detention, Simon says how he is the only one who speaks out and draws attention to the school's privileged pupils' misdeeds. However, after drinking from a nearby water dispenser in a paper cup, he suffers a severe allergic response to his cup of water. He looks for his EpiPen, but it is nowhere to be found in his backpack, and all of the EpiPens at the nurse's office were also missing when Cooper went to look for one.

Nate offers Bronwyn a ride home, when they arrive Bronwyn gets a call from her mother who tells her that Simon didn't make it. Soon after, all four are introduced to Officer Miller, who reveals that Simon died as a result of anaphylactic shock caused by his peanut allergy; there was peanut oil in the cup he used, and no epic-pens in his bag or in the nurse's office when he died.

All of them are interrogated, and it is here that we learn about Nate's history. He's already had two strikes, and if he receives a third, he'll be sentenced to prison. Bronwyn is also being questioned by the cops about her additional phone. Addy's name was also written in the nursing record, despite the fact that she says she never went. Simon and Bronwyn were ranked first and second in their class, respectively. Clay has a record that isn't open to the public.

Nate pays Bronwyn a visit at her house after being interrogated and requests a tour. Bronwyn snatched Simon's laptop, and Nate advises her to dispose of it. When Nate left she stows it in the trunk of her car.

Keely is having dinner with the Cooper family. Cooper's homosexuality appears to be unknown to everyone except Keely and Lucas. Cooper is still in the closet because he is afraid of not being drafted if others find out he is gay. Cooper informs Lucas that his and Keely's relationship is mutually beneficial.

Nate is still dealing drugs, despite what he told the police officer. His living situation is also not ideal. Nate has an irresponsible father who doesn't seem to pay him much, if any, attention. But, in addition to dealing drugs, Nate has a habit of sleeping with the girlfriends of other men. That's how we first encounter him, and later, the girl's boyfriend roughs up Nate and steals his drug money.

Cooper, Keely, Addy, Jake, TJ, and Vanessa are hanging out in the aftermath of Simon's death, complaining that the school is paying tribute to Simon during a football game. Jake, says all he wanted was see to what Simon had and everyone else. Addy gets irritated a get out the jacuzzi to the bathroom when she opens the door to get out TJ stands there and we learn that Simon’s post was referring to her cheating on Jake with TJ. She tells him their secret dies with Simon, and if anyone else finds out, he will regret it.

At the football game, Nate gives his supplier money and the supplier informs him that he is short. Maeve appears to be aware of his dubious business dealings. He sees her, approaches her and asks whether Bronwyn is around, to which she points out Bronwyn Evan. His looks disappointed and walks away.

As the game begins, the principal introduces Janae, who was supposed to perform the National Anthem but instead sings a tribute to Simon, her own rendition of Lily Allen's "F**k You," and the principal quickly gets her offstage. After the tribute, Bronwyn and Evan leave the game. Nate sees her go away and calls Amber right away. Officer Miller stands by and watches Nate walk away.

Someone updates AbouThat with a confession later, when everyone is partying. Simon was murdered, according to an anonymous poster. In innovative voice narration, each of the main characters read a piece of the confession.

Bronwyn finds that someone has taken Simon's laptop from her car, Clay visits his secret partner for a hook-up, Nate lies in bed close to Amber, and Addy hugs Jake in the pool while TJ watches on the sidelines.
