Biography[]
Bronwyn Rojas is a part of the Bayview Four. She is a smart girl who comes from a family of Yale graduates, so she is constantly academically pressured by her parents. Despite the pressure, it is Bronwyn's dream to attend the same school as her family. She enjoys playing the piano, attending extracurricular activities, and watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer with her sister Maeve Rojas. Maeve was diagnosed with leukemia when she was seven and wasn’t fully disease-free until she was 14 years old.
Bronwyn's first appearance was at the start of One of Us is Lying, as she was the first point of view.
Physical Appearance[]
Bronwyn has intense grey eyes, though with her glasses they may be assumed to be blue. She has dark hair and often wears it in a ponytail. Bronwyn is biracial as her mother is 4th generation Irish and her father is Colombian. We can assume that her skin colour is tan. In terms of clothing, Bronwyn is described at the beginning of the novel to wear tartan skirts often. She is said to not wear makeup by Addy.
Personality and Character Development[]
Character analysis[]
Bronwyn is heavily impacted by the pressure her Parents put on her which often determines how she behaves. She is very ambitious and goes extreme lengths for good grades. Over all, she is a very moral as well as caring person as she helps free Nate from prison and even gives him another chance.
Themes[]
Bronwyn's character is instrumental in exploring various themes prevalent in "One of Us is Lying," including the pressure parents can exert on their children, academic pressure, and the complexities of relationships between friends, partners and siblings. Her journey serves as a lens through which the novel examines the challenges faced by young individuals in a high-pressure environment.
Relationships[]
Her relationship with her little sister Maeve is great. She helps the main four find out about the murder mystery. Her relationship with Cooper is on friendly terms, but nothing more. Her relationship with Addy is also on friendly terms, but she's a little closer to Addy than Cooper. Her boyfriend, Nate, one of the main four characters (at least in the first book) is close with her, more than anyone, except for Maeve.
